Leo XIV calls for dialogue "wherever there is war"

Pope Leo XIV asked leaders this Sunday to have the courage to dialogue “wherever there is war”, during the Sunday recitation of the “Regina Coeli”.
Before more than 80,000 faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican for the Jubilee of Movements, Associations and New Communities, the Pope invoked the “gift of peace” highlighting that only a “peaceful heart can spread peace in the family, in society and in international relations”.
“May the spirit of the Risen Christ open paths of reconciliation where there is war, may it enlighten rulers and give them the courage to dialogue,” he said.
In the previous homily, Leo XIV had already said that “where there is love there is no room for prejudices and for the safety distances that separate us from our neighbors”.
“And a tragic sign of all this are the wars that shake our planet,” he said, calling for love to “open borders, tear down walls, dissolve hatred and build a world where peace reigns.”
Also on Saturday, during the Pentecost Vigil, the Pope said that “peace will return” if people stop acting “like predators”.
“In a fractured and peaceless world, the Holy Spirit teaches us to walk together. The earth will rest, justice will be asserted, the poor will rejoice and peace will return if we stop moving like predators and start moving like pilgrims,” he said.
The vigil and Mass brought together more than 80,000 people, many members of Catholic groups and movements from more than 100 countries, including Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Colombia, who came for the Jubilee dedicated to them and who filled St. Peter's Square in a festive atmosphere with flags, songs and posters.
